The Coalition traveled to the Nebraska Prairie Chicken Festival April 10-12 at Switzer Ranch and Nature Reserve (Calamus Outfitters) near Burwell. We joined a speaker list that included University of Nebraska-Lincoln professor Larkin Powell, Executive Director of the Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resource Trust Bob Budd, wildlife photographer Michael Forsberg, and others.

The annual festival is attended by naturalists, birders, and general fans of landscape of the Sandhills. The Switzers do a great job with the food and activities. Switzer Ranch is one of the members of our Great Plains Ecotourism Coalition.

We installed the 12 ecotourism posters permanently in the main event space (a very nice ‘barn’). It was great to talk to so many people that were so passionate about ecotourism and conserving the natural scenery and landscapes of the Great Plains.
